Outlander Star Worried She'd Reveal Show Secrets To Her Dentist

Outlander star Caitríona Balfe has recently revealed that she may have been at risk of spilling series secrets to her dentist. The series, which follows a wartime nurse who is transported from 1945 to the 1700s, has amassed a massive fanbase since it first began airing back in 2014. With season 6 about to premiere in March and Outlander season 7 already announced, its no surprise that fans are eager to hear some teasers about what will happen to their favorite characters.

Balfe is no stranger to attention from her acting work. Recently, the Irish actress has been in the spotlight for her role in Kenneth Branagh's newest film Belfast, which is generating plenty of awards season buzz. Balfe has also seen success over the years for her roles in projects like Now You See Me and Netflix's The Dark Crystal series. However, it seems that despite this, Balfe's most devoted fans know her from Outlander, and they seem to find her in all aspects of her life.

In a recent interview Balfe gave on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert while promoting Belfast, the actress revealed that she may have spilled Outlander secrets to her dentist while under anesthesia for surgery. Balfe explained that she wasn't worried at first, as the anesthesiologist entered with an Outlander mug and claimed to be Balfe's "biggest fan." According to Balfe, she initially thought this was a good sign, assuming this meant that she would be well taken care of during her surgery. However, the actress continued on to state that the anesthesiologist began questioning her about upcoming storylines on Outlander, leading Balfe to worry that she would tell her something she wasn't allowed to say. Read Balfe's full quote below:

"The anesthesiologist came in and she had an Outlander mug, and she was lie, 'I'm your biggest fan!' And I was like oh, this is good! She's going to really take care of me. But then we went in, and I was - she was telling me how she was going to put me under. But then she kept asking me questions about the series and like, what was going to happen. And I was like, 'uh, I'm not supposed to tell you stuff!' But then when she injected me, and as I was lulling off, she started to sing the theme tune, and I was like, 'No!'"

While it doesn't seem that Balfe gave away any Outlander season 6 secrets this time around, the story is still concerning. During the interview, Colbert jokingly asked if Balfe worried that she would wake up from her anesthesia "in fifteenth century Scotland." Balfe replied by stating she was more worried about waking up in the anesthesiologist's basement, playfully saying she was vulnerable at the hands of her Outlander super-fan.

Despite odd experiences like this, Balfe has also admitted that the love Outlander has received is "amazing." This is good news, since it certainly doesn't seem like attention will be diverted away from the show any time soon. With the highly-anticipated Outlander season 6 about to premiere and season 7 soon to begin production, fans are definitely hungry to know how Claire and Jamie's story will continue. Season 7 is potentially set to be the end of the series, with plans for Outlander season 8 not yet confirmed. Given the uncertainty, fans may have to wait a while to find out where the story will finish up — assuming Balfe doesn't accidentally spill the details to her dentist first.
