Peacemaker Stunt Coordinator Hired To Work On Guardians of the Galaxy 3

James Gunn has revealed that he hired the stunt coordinator from Peacemaker to work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The director made his DCEU debut last year with the premiere of The Suicide Squad in August. His latest offering, Peacemaker, is currently streaming on HBO Max, and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will hit theaters next year.

Peacemaker catches up with the titular hero (John Cena) after his nearly-mortal injury during the climax of The Suicide Squad. Suffering a gunshot wound to the neck during the mission to Corto Maltese in his last adventure, Peacemaker is awoken by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) and her team for a new mission. Along the way, he is paired up with Adrian Chase a.k.a Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), as well as his trusty companion Eagly. The show combines Gunn's trademarks of heart, humor, and action, and he'll be bringing some of that action to the MCU.

Now that Peacemaker has officially hit the streaming world with its HBO Max debut, Gunn can fully devote his time to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In fact, it seems like he has brought teammates from the DC show over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a recent social media post, Gunn noted that he actually hired Peacemaker stunt coordinator to work on Wayne Daglish Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn posted:

So, while Gunn has been working very hard on his comic book projects over the last years, and by his own account needs a break, he clearly has made some friends along the way. Daglish is his most recent hire to make the jump from one Gunn project to another, crossing the line from DC to the Marvel world. In fact, the stunt coordinator came highly recommended by former DC director Zack Snyder, who is a friend and collaborator of Gunn’s. While Daglish’s resume is heavy on DC films, such as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman, this will not be his first Marvel outing, as he actually worked on the stunt department for Thor: The Dark World as well.

For many fans of  Gunn’s work, it will be interesting to see how this hire affects the action and stuntwork in his next Marvel film. Peacemaker is decidedly more grounded than the action seen in the Guardians movies, so Daglish could bring some street-level brutality to the cosmic Marvel world. Gunn has previously said Guardians of the Galaxy 3 isn't what fans expect. Perhaps that will translate not just to his storytelling choices, but also the way he stages the action sequences.
